NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DECORATIVE AND FINE ARTS SOCIETIES
SUSSEX AREA - YOUNG ARTS PROJECTS
NADFAS is an educational charity and one of its aims is to inspire young people with lasting enthusiasm for the arts, an awareness
of our arts heritage and its conservation. NADFAS therefore encourages individual societies to promote high quality visual arts
activities for young people. Societies work with the young in two ways. Many have their own Young Arts Groups; others
arrange Young Arts Projects, and some support both.
YOUNG ARTS PROJECTS are arts events organised or sponsored by societies for schools, museums and other local organisations. At a time
when arts education in schools is under pressure from competing curriculum demands and lack of money, NADFAS societies are well placed
to help with particular needs in their own areas. Experience has shown that a small grant from a society can act as a catalyst, creating
partnerships in the promotion of art for young people.
The Sussex Area has been very active with Young Arts Projects and all 24 societies sponsor our student at West Dean College. (Go
to Area Events for more information).
West Sussex DFAS sponsors school art at St Mary's Primary School Pulborough.
